GET THE LOOK...

– of LONDON - FALL RTW 2011

Well of course there are some beautiful pieces shown, tailored and great day wear, but not a great deal for weddings and in relation to wedding gowns.
So instead here is the pick of items I have added to me wardrobe wish list!!!

Temperley London

Temperley London did some beautiful evening pieces, this cape is stunning and a hot trend for Fall as well as the delicate opaque tights with the leather ankle boots.

Temperley London

Temperley London, l love the neckline with the sleeves and cut out panels helps to break up the full-length gown with sleeves, another trend we have been seeing a lot on the red carpet.

Temperley London, I love the sheer with the panels and the appliqué work.

Temperley London
The skirt with the tassels and the panel detail - is this the most beautiful jumper ever?

Sass & Bide

Our very own home grown Aussies showing in London.  This deep coral orange colour is great and the shoulder detailing creates a twist.

Marios Schwab

I love the neutral shades and the paneling working with the belts, this look is effortless and easy to wear.

Temperley London

The embroidery work on this stunning and rather gothic which I like. It is pretty but edgy at the same time.

Creating a waisted silhouette is again a highlight for fashion week, both Temperley London and Marios Schwab used classic black belts to define the waist.

 Emilio de la Morena

 Emilio de la Morena

The modern woman wants pieces that are classic, easy to wear but have a point of difference.  These two looks from Emilio de la Morena show how a refined use of colour and trim accent these lady like looks.  Add an awesome pair of platforms or boots for a killer look.

Emilio de la Morena

The sheer layers and subtle ruffles, again reflects Emilio de le Morenas refined elegance - it has a pretty but not OTT look.
(p.s. how amazing are the shoes? A great way to add a pop of colour - even for your wedding day!)

Vivienne Westwood – Red label

I love her suits she is always reinventing and reworking this look with a signature twist and fantastic use of trims as the pink shown here.

Rosemount Australia Fashion Week - Day One

Rosemount Australia Fashion Week – Day One, Part One

Nothing more exciting, and disheveling, than when just as we are getting into the swing of sporting our best Autumn trends, do we get a sudden burst of the delight that is the Spring/Summer 2010/11 collections of Rosemount Australia Fashion Week.

This season is no exception with only one day of shows complete we are already seeing two extremes in the collections on show. One is the super-soft, sorbet hued, ever-so-feminine draping and pretty ruffled look, or the very dark, simple, sharp shaped, muted, grunge look.

While the bridal theme flows much better with the first option, the team at Karen Willis Holmes are also loving the inspiring designs being channeled through the latter option, so sexy and chic.

Lisa Ho

The lovely Lisa Ho never fails to inspire and she has beautifully mastered draping with soft fabrics and jerseys this season.

Gowns in soft knit fabrics such as these can be unforgiving, but all that is solved with clever draping around the waist, which conceals any lumps or bumps, while also creating a gorgeous gown feature. This is a big fashion trend at the moment, and in the new Karen Willis Holmes collection set to hit stores soon, we are featuring a lot of soft draping in knits for a more relaxed wedding gown option.

The one-shouldered look is here to stay for now it seems, and why not, it looks absolutely fabulous. For those inspired by this look at Karen Willis Holmes we have our ‘Cleo’ gown that works in a similar style with a column shape with a soft georgette overlay to create a gorgeous movement with the nature of the fabric.

For those of you still wanting a corseted gown for a more flattering, figure-enhancing look, add a one-shouldered corsage to channel the trend like the ‘Adele’ gown. Not only adding a new trend to your look, but you are also bringing in a great feature in the form of the silk rosettes, which look simple yet stunning.

Karen Willis Holmes ‘Cleo’ and ‘Adele’ gowns

Lisa Ho gowns work beautifully for bridesmaids as well as for guests, and at Karen Willis Holmes they are one of our top recommendations for our brides when seeking advice for their bridal party and any friends who may not know where to shop for something to wear to their wedding.

Aurelio Costarella

Aurelio Costarella is another Karen Willis Holmes favourite, with his ability to constantly create striking, feminine pieces that fall beautifully with impeccable detail.

Karen Willis Holmes ‘Petal Skirt’ and ‘Ribbon Bodice’

For brides who are loving his corseted bodice and gorgeous, full bodied, ruffle skirt, at Karen Willis Holmes we recommend you try the organza ‘Petal Skirt’ with the ‘Ribbon Bodice’, made from silk contessa with satin ribbon detailing. The corset provides excellent structure through the bodice, while the skirt adds a playful volume to lift the entire look.

Karen Willis Holmes ‘Maddison’ gown and ‘Feather Bolero’

A big statement collar/bolero works so well with a very simple, streamline styled gown. The ‘Maddison’ gown is a great example, especially with its pleated, tulle bolero to add a bit of drama to the otherwise understated gown. Another example that channels the same idea, but with a different texture is to team the ‘Feather Bolero’ with the gown of your choice, just draped around the shoulders creating that collar effect.

Karen Willis Holmes ‘Nicole’ gown

A modern halter neck design creates a very different look, which can be seen in our ‘Nicole’ gown, with a similar neckline that creates a fabulous detail when the hair is worn in a stunning upstyle.

Another favourite feature of this Costarella creation is the gorgeous plum colour of the fabric, which is something of a small trend we are seeing emerge. Purple, in any shade, can be worked into your bridal look, whether it be with the use of a purple sash, scatter a few purple fabric flowers to accessorise your gown, or even within your bridal bouquet.

Ginger and Smart

Ginger and Smart worked with a lovely muted palette consisting of very soft colours in major part of their show.

Karen Willis Holmes ‘ Zoe’ and ‘Roberta’ gowns

The soft delicate layered look of this dress can be achieved with one of our Karen Willis Holmes signature styles in the ‘Petal Skirt’, as seen earlier in this post.

To create a more ‘ruffly’ look, head towards the ‘Zoe’ or ‘Roberta’ gowns. The ‘Zoe’ gown is made from the beautiful soft Bella Georgette, a light, slightly transparent soft silk, which creates the beautiful soft ruffles. For a gown with more structure, the ‘Roberta’ is a better option, with its corsetry and silk shantung makeup, there is a stronger finish to the ruffles.

Bridesmaid Alert!

A great option for your bridesmaids, this frock features intricate draping and folds with a gloriously cute puff skirt. This is gorgeous as a modern bridesmaid option to not only work in with the formality of the event, but it is also a great little number that your bridesmaids can definitely wear again.

Seventh Wonderland

Karen Willis Holmes ‘Sophia’ gown

Proof that inspiration can be drawn from anywhere! When the Karen Willis Holmes team saw this fabulous one-piece costume from swimwear label Seventh Wonderland, we all loved the look of the ruched suit. Pop a gorgeously, full, high-waisted skirt on there, and you have an attention grabbing outfit. The ‘Sophia’ gown looks amazing and follows the same sweetheart neckline that softens the dramatic look of the skirt.
